Specific conditions that contribute to eye damage during cycling include riding on bright, sunny days and not wearing sunglasses. For example, a cyclist riding down a sunlit road without UV-protected eyewear may experience glare and discomfort. Over time, this exposure can lead to issues like photokeratitis, which is akin to sunburn on the eye, and long-term conditions like cataracts, which cloud the lens and impair vision.
